My Story 

While serving in the Army, a tiny spark in me ignited in my pursuit of my personal health and fitness goals. At the time, I wasn’t sure if a career and health and nutrition was for me, so I dug deeper into another field I loved …TEACHING. I obtained my B.A. in Organizational Management and then continued on to earn my Masters in Education. I spent a couple of years in the classroom teaching a variety of science courses to Middle and High School students before realizing my true passion has always been Fitness. Turns out, my love for teaching and my passion for better health were a perfect fit. I left the classroom and hit the gym! 

Literally, I went to my favorite gym. I began my work at the YMCA as a personal trainer and then added skills as a group exercise instructor, and eventually worked hard to become a Health and Wellness Director. 

My favorite part of the job was teaching group exercise classes and watching my one-on-one personal training clients push their limits and crush their goals. During my time at the YMCA, I worked hard to develop my skills as a group exercise instructor and obtained certifications in Group Active, Group Fight, Group Core, Group Power, Pilates, Master Piloxing, Tabata, HIIT, Cycling, Water in Motion, and taught several Freestyle Classes. My other specialties are building and developing customized nutrition plans with my clients, especially those struggling with Type II diabetes, weight loss, or gaining muscle. I am a certified Personal Trainer in Strength and Conditioning through ACE. I am also a certified Sports Nutrition Coach through NCSF.

My goal for my clients is to help them to become knowledgeable in fitness and nutrition while focusing on whole body health and wellness. Recently, I obtained my Health and Wellness Certification through AFPA. I found this was the missing piece for my clients. Sometimes, they would have all the drive needed, but would lose the motivation for various reasons. The Health and Wellness taught me how to guide my clients when the going gets tough and to create new strategies for them overcome obstacle and stay the course on their fitness journey.

But, something was still missing. I had secretly wished to compete in a bodybuilding competition, but limited myself for one reason or another. About 3 years ago, I committed to training and maybe even winning a trophy as a bodybuilder. Before I knew it, I had fallen in love with the stage, the competition, the lights and the incredible honor that it was to be out there with the best of the best. I did this one thing for me, and I LOVE IT! It’s not just that sport that enthralls me, but the athletes I meet are incredible and leave me awe struck. In a short time, I went from being an amateur to a professional athlete! I developed my own workouts and nutrition plan during this process which helped me bring home the gold and earn my Pro Card. I am now a coach for the OCB organization and will be promoting my first show in 2022 in Utah!

While I have served as a personal trainer for over 15 years, I have never forgotten how it all started; a tiny fire in a girl’s heart for something more.
